Frequently asked questions

Are all the services bulk billed at Top End Medical Centre?

Where possible your consultation will be bulkbilled, however for certain types of consultations it is fraudulent to bill Medicare and these will be charged privately, if you are unsure please call 1300 4 Doctor and check.

Specialist, travel medicine and procedures will incur an out of pocket fee – again feel free to call the clinic and check with our friendly reception staff.

What happens if I don’t have a Medicare card?

If you have a up to date Medicare card, you present this to reception on every visit. If you have an expired, lost or have misplaced your Medicare card you can go in to your local Medicare office, present some I.D and they will give you a temporary receipt with your new Medicare number. Our clinic will only accept a current Medicare card or the new issued receipt from Medicare.

If you do not have these two, then we charge you $70.00 for your visit. Your receipt will be issued after your visit with the Doctor and if you have private health, you may be able to claim a percentage back. We accept Eftpos and cash only.

What if I fail to cancel an appointment or do not attend?

A $20.00 fee will incur for patients who fail to attend or do not cancel their appointment. This fee is payable at the time of the next consultation before seeing another Doctor.
