Frequently asked questions
Are all the services bulk billed at Top End Medical Centre?
Where possible your consultation will be bulkbilled, however for certain types of consultations it is fraudulent to bill Medicare and these will be charged privately, if you are unsure please call 1300 4 Doctor and check.
Specialist, travel medicine and procedures will incur an out of pocket fee – again feel free to call the clinic and check with our friendly reception staff.
What happens if I don’t have a Medicare card?
If you have a up to date Medicare card, you present this to reception on every visit. If you have an expired, lost or have misplaced your Medicare card you can go in to your local Medicare office, present some I.D and they will give you a temporary receipt with your new Medicare number. Our clinic will only accept a current Medicare card or the new issued receipt from Medicare.

What if I have a complaint about a health service or community service?
If you have a complaint or feedback regarding our services, please visit our complaints page.
If you have travelled to China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Iran, South Korea, Iran, Italy or Norway recently or suspected of coming into contact with a COVID-19 infected person in Australia and you have flu-like symptoms, please contact our reception staff immediately, we only have limited places every day for our existing patients for COVID-19 testing. The ability to conduct testing in big numbers is extremely limited due to lack of infrastructure and lack of adequate infection control facility.
As a family practice and surgery, we don't have proper testing facilities such as Quarantined waiting rooms (an isolated area), Negative Pressure Rooms, Well ventilated consultation rooms (rooms with windows). Hence, we have developed a 7 step guide as below to educate our patients on the testing procedure.
COVID-19 (Coronavirus) testing is by appointment and for our regular patients only, conducted via DRIVE THROUGH testing.
There will be a doctor dedicated to conduct testing at each of our clinics.
Please give us a call to book an appointment and our reception staff will record your details.
The doctor will call you and obtain recent medical history and the travel movements. Once over the phone assessment is complete, you will be given an appointment for DRIVE THROUGH testing.
When you arrive, the doctor and a nurse wearing a pandemic kit will meet you at the drive-through. The Doctor will ask you to remain in the car and obtain samples from you for laboratory testing.
The doctor will issue a Medical Certificate and provide you with ‘at home’ isolation advice.
You will be notified immediately in case of a positive swab test result.
